August 09 Ghana UpdatesREPORT #13 Monday, August 20
Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then comest harvest? Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. (John 4:35)
Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few: Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest. (Matt. 9:37,38)
God is great and sends forth the harvest. I know that we have not updated you for the past few days. I can really only say that the verses above speak for us and give you the truth of your labors and sacrifices that allowed us to serve here in Ghana with VBS.
Mumford was another great harvest for God. His Holy Spirit went forth and prepared the hearts to hear, and He reaped the harvest through you.
The 2nd day of VBS there was over 400 children and 150 youth. The salvation message was heard and again many responded. Those that responded were counseled and many received Christ as their personal Savior! Amen!
The 3rd day at Mumford was the greatest in number. Even though the youth were smaller the children made up for that. It was a great day fishing but God remained faithful and still sent the children. This day was 578 children. This is very uncommon when the fishing is good. Normally all of them go to the sea to get the fish. When fishing is good the whole family goes including the very small children. For some reason that did not happen even though the fishing was very good. You and I both know why that did not happen. God is so good. When the gospel went forth again many responded. Too many to keep track of numbers. The names were recorded and given to the local pastor. He has not given me the final numbers yet. I really do not care about the numbers though. I can trust in God that he is keeping track and we only have to do his work through sharing the gospel and he will keep track of the numbers.
As I said earlier we wrapped up Mumford with a soccer match at 5:00 . This was great. It ended in a tie of 2,2. And then another opportunity to share the gospel. There were many watching that were not apart of the VBS. When the invitation was given many responded by raising their hands. A general invitation was given. Again we can only rely on God for exact numbers but man y responded and that encouraged us again by knowing that God has prepared hearts to hear His Word!!
Toady we will be leaving for the camp. The 3 college girls are airborne now and will be arriving in the US at 9:00a.m. Please pray that the traveling process will go smooth for them all. Tears were shed as they left because God has done a great work in and through them. Relationships were both built and strengthened and we know that many will be missed. As we go on to camp please pray again for tender hearts and that God will use all the items that you provided. The few things that we have left we will be giving to the camp kids. We have been told there is about 600 ranging form ages 6-25. We will be looking to see what God will do.
We will have anyway of communication while we are away at the camp. We will update you again when we return. It will be of Friday that we arrive back to Apam. Thanks so much again for serving Christ though this ministry that you allowed us to participate in.

REPORT #12 Thursday, August 16
Another wonderful day of serving God through VBS in Mumford. We had 335 in attendance for the first day. This is the most so far for our first day. We only have about 300 bracelets left for our craft. Please pray that it will all work out. We are trusting God that he will provide ways to accommodate the needs we have. I am sure that he will. We want to say Thank You again for those who participated in assembling all of the crafts together. It has been a true blessing.
Because of the 2 deaf girls in Apam, a deaf person attended in Mumford and God used Anita again. God is showing her that he has a special need for her here in Africa . There is not a ministry for the deaf in any of the churches in the area. I think many will come in attendance to church if there was such a ministry. Please pray with us if that is God’s will for us.
For our leaders they have reported to me 30 decisions were made for salvation in Jesus Christ. Many more were made with the Ghanaian leaders. The lists have all been turned into the local pastors.
Tonight while the youth lesson was being taught a man that was 41 years old was walking by the school building that we were in. He stopped at the door and listened to God’s word being taught to the youth. One of the pastors from Kasoa that is here to help saw him. Pastor Rueben went out and talked with him. The man told him he realized he was a sinner and needed Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. Pastor Rueben showed Alex from God’s word on how to be saved. He prayed a prayer of confession and salvation. Praise God for that and of course the many others that came to Christ today.
We hope that you all are well and are enjoying the work here in Ghana that you are part of. The lives of this team from the U.S. God is using and changing day by day. Do not become surprised if God is calling your youth to Ghana Africa. Please pray that God’s will, will be done in all of our lives. We love you all and will be home soon.

Isaiah 6:8 REPORT #11 Wednesday, August 15
We can never praise God enough. Today we closed our VBS program in Apam. What a blessing it has been. We came here to serve and we are being served! Today in our morning session we had 476 children. Over 150 raised their hands to accept Christ. We did not have the man power to do one on one as we wanted to but God provided. We did an open invitation and gave the opportunity for them to receive Christ where they were seated. The building was packed. I was backed against the wall for teaching and kids were from wall to wall. I do not think that we could have fit anymore. What an awesome morning we had.
It continued in the afternoon. We had 115 youth register but over 200 snacks were given out. You do the math. Very interesting invitation time, not one hand was raised. Everyone confessed the name of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We prayed that this was the true story of their hearts. As I stood in front and watched another miracle of God through my wife Anita- tears filled my eyes to watch her communicate with the 2 deaf girls. Their brother came and talked to me after chruch. He said this was the first time that anyone took the time to try to communicate with his sisters. Yes I began to cry and ball like a baby. Please pray that a ministry can be started for them. May that be the call of God on Antia's life. Only God knows but please pray for obedience to His will in our lives. Many questions are being answered as for our life in Africa.
We had a great closing time playing and building relationships with the youth of Apam. Please pray for the local churches. Our work is done for now but theirs has just begun. We are praying for proper follow up and discipleship for each one and that none will fall through the cracks and be left behind. Please pray for me, my voice is one its last vocal cord and we have 3 more days yet. We need to be refreshed tonight and be ready for a new day in the Lord.
Praise God that we are all healthy and still doing well. I am sorry for the lack of pictures and I will hope to update you with some very soon. We love you all and it is a true pleasure and honor serving with you here Ghana Africa.
Serving Christ,

REPORT #10 Tuesday, August 14
God is so good. Today we had over 450 kids in both the morning and evening sessions of Set Sail VBS. There was no place for them to sit, standing room only and not much of that if you were my size! Today the response is getting overwhelming. What do you do with about 20 workers and well over 100 kids responding. There is no where to go and counsel so they just go outside into the streets and do the best they can. Praise God for allowing us to serve Him.
Tonight during our youth time God did something very special. It was a miracle before our eyes. I thank God for Anita being willing to be used of the Holy Spirit and being sensitive to 2 girls who were deaf. Anita has never had any formal training in sign language except for her sister working in a deaf camp and teaching her just a little. God spoke through the hands of Anita to these girls. She did sign language through the entire lesson that I taught. The 2 girls understood everything I said. They both responded to Anita that they knew Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. We praise God for that. This was truly amazing before our eyes. Please pray for Anita as these 2 girls said they will be back on Wednesday for our last day. Pray with us that God can use Anita’s hands again to communicate with them via sign language. This is awesome.
Wednesday we close at Apam and prepare for Munford on Thursday. Please be in prayer as we have set up a soccer match between Apam and Munford. This will draw a lot of people to watch and pray that God’s word will go forth with great power to these individuals that do not know Him but will attend the soccer match. This will be on Saturday at 5:00p.m. We are all doing well and healthy. We are praying for you all as we know your praying for us and we Thank God for his provisions for us.

REPORT #9: Monday, August 13
What another precious day for the Lord. Today is Monday and we have just finished our Youth VBS here in Apam. For the day total we had 362 individuals. The pastors are totaling the decisions now as I write to you. What an awesome day. I am just guessing that over 50 were counseled by the leaders and local pastors. I will let you know what the number of recorded decisions are. God knows the exact NUMBER. We are working for Him and he is the one that is keeping the true record of decisions.
Please keep us in your prayers, we have run out of our snack and we are having to buy it locally. This is a true praise. I am learning what I can buy here and what we need to bring in the future. Yes I said the future. We will hope and pray that God will send us again.
Please be in prayer for Anita and I that we will be sensitive to the calling of God for direction in our lives. These past weeks has showed us many things and resolved many issues that we thought may exist. God is great. Sorry so short but dinner is calling. It is 8:00p.m. here. Praise God for his work going forth here in Apam , Ghana Africa . We love and miss you all.

Isaiah 6:8 REPORT #8: Friday, August 10
Friends,
Praise God for another great VBS program at Kasoa New Life Baptist Church . We had substantial growth everyday. We were not able to keep an accurate count on the decisions of salvations due to the fact the number of those responding. We required each and every teacher that we had including all of the pastors to handle those responding. Many were required to take 4-5 at a time to counsel them which made it a little more difficult but God provided the way.
Just from our 8 individuals handling those who responded totaled 83 decisions to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. I know for a fact there were many many more due to the local teachers and pastors handling many of those who responded. I must tell you God’s word is so true when Jesus says the fields are white unto harvest but the laborers are few. The fields are white here in Ghana Africa. We need more faithful workers for Christ. All of those who attended were very eager to hear the word of God. Not all responded but all heard. Will you please pray with us that those who are newly saved will be discipled by the local church. We have encouraged them all to attend the local church that we ministered in. We are so thankful for those who could attend due to the transportation need being met.
I am learning very quickly that many of the local pastors have very large desires and expectations of the numbers that will attend but are not always accurate. Today our last day we had 296 attend. Over 175 of those were from the refuge camp that required transportation. The refuge camp provided a majority of the children. We are so thankful for all those who came.
As we take a day of rest on Saturday and go to the Monkey bridge and the slave castle in Cape Coast , please pray for our safe travel.
Not only have we seen decisions being made for Christ form the local people but I know that God is working on the hearts of some of our team. They really see the need for missions. Please pray for each and everyone that they would follow the leading of God in their life and would be obedient to Him. Several pastors have asked if we would come next year. Our response is “Lord willing.â€
We are all very excited to come and report to you in person, but we will miss the people that we have come to serve. In just 2 very short weeks we will all be home.
This next week will be the most difficult and tiring so please pray extra for us. We begin on Monday in Apam and go through Wednesday then on to Munford on Thursday through Saturday. No break for us and that is OK because we came to serve. But I must let you know that it does take a toll on you and we can all become a bit irritable when we get a little worn down. We love you all and Thank You again for giving us the honor to come and serve here in Ghana . I will do my best to keep you informed throughout next week. Again we Thank You for serving with us!!!!
Serving Christ,
Dan
Isaiah 6:8 REPORT #7: Wednesday, August 8
We are praising God for meeting our every need. I want to let you all that the transportation need has been met. We are all so very encouraged by your support of prayer and your giving to this ministry need. God has showed us each and every step that he is sovereign and is teaching us to completely rely on him. On Sunday God gave me the opportunity to preach at Crossroads Baptist Church in Accra. 2 men responded to the gospel and received Jesus Christ as their Lord & Savior. Praise God!!!!
God again gave me another opportunity to preach the evening service at Gospel Baptist in Ashiaman. 7 people responded with rededicating their lives to serve God. Praise God for that. Today (Wednesday) we have completed our first day at New Life Baptist Church on Kasoa. We are praising God for the numbers we had. It was far from what was expected according to the local pastors but we praise God for the 132 that attended. God’s word went forth and 20 responded to the Gospel. They all realized they were in need of our Savior Jesus Christ and accepted Him as their personal Lord and Savior. We are looking forward to another great day for the Lord on Thursday. We have been asked to be prepared to double our transportation needs from the camp. We will be ready to respond to Gods call!!!!
We praise God that we will be preaching at the camp this Sunday afternoon in a closing service for those who attended. Will you please pray as God has given me another chance to share his word?
I am sorry that I can not share pictures with you due to the networks we are using and the cost that it is to send pictures via this wireless internet connection. I promise upon our return to the states you will see the ministry in complete detail.
Please continue to pray for our health and strength. We all again find ourselves very tired. We do not return from Kasoa until 8:30pm then we eat dinner and all shower and try to be in bed by 11:30 or so. We have to be up at 5:30 to get ready to go again. Some of us are not use to this sleep schedule. But thus far God has given us the strength to carry on and we trust in Him that He will continue to do so. I will be signing off for now. I do believe that we have all been able to contact our loved ones in the states and they have been updated. If you all need anything else from us please email me. I am doing my best to keep you updated!!! We all Love You and Miss you!!!

If God leads your heart to meet this immediate need that we have, I would ask that you make this payable to First Baptist Church of Oxford and mark it for Ghana. I have credit cards that I am willing to take advances on and have my bank cards that can be covered by our local church. I am willing to use them but need the money to cover such expenses. We have incurred other expenses that were not expected that have been covered. I pray that we have done our best to keep our emergency needs to a minimum. Regardless God will meet our needs through his people as he has. If you are so lead please let me know soon so I can relieve our team of trying to solve this issue. Let me assure you that God's word is going forth and he will use it for His own Glory. We are all safe here in Apam as we prepare for our work to start again tomorrow. Pastor Kennedy has just asked me to come to prepare to go to a school that has requested us this morning. They called and asked if we could come share what we would be doing in Apam. God is opening doors that no man can open. I will keep you posted as we Spread the Good News to this school this morning and pray that we can give a short gospel message to them now. I must go for now. We all love you and again Thank YOU for supporting us in this ministry. Serving Christ, Dan Wells Isaiah 6:8 REPORT#5: See our team on GARBC Website Greetings to All: |
